Who We Are ...

The Authentic Voices is the choir of the English Department at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. It was founded in 1998 by a small group of students and instructors of the English Department – that's why we sing in English only, and sometimes hold our rehearsals in English. Over the years, students, faculty members and staff from other departments also have joined the choir. 
Our motto has always been, "I don't sing because I'm happy. I'm happy because I sing" (William James).
We sing  because we love singing together as a group of people from different backgrounds with different stories. And we love to meet new people. Sheet music and, if necessary, audio files that will help you to learn the music will be provided.
